Serving at Grace Church

Grace Church would not be possible without our wonderful volunteers. Every week, numerous members of our congregation are using their gifts and servant-heartedness to make Grace Church possible. There are many areas of service, and we encourage everyone who is part of Grace Church to get involved in serving in some way. It’s a beautiful and practical way to love one another, and the quickest way to get stuck in and feel part of our church family!

If you’d like to get involved, please contact info@greenwich.church.

Serving Areas

Below is an overview of some teams with serving opportunities across our congregations. There are also many other ways – some of them more informal (eg. practicing hospitality or offering lifts), but we believe that everyone at Grace Church has gifts that can be used for the common good in some way.

Most of our teams serve 1 in 4 weeks, and some people choose to be part of several teams, depending on their capacitTech / PA

Tech / PA

Involves setting up PA equipment before the service, overseeing sound and slides during the service, and setting the equipment back down. No prior PA experience is required and training will be provided.

In our Greenwich service, there also is an opportunity to support the live stream team.

Music

If you have gifts in singing or playing an instrument, the music team would love to hear from you! We usually ask of our musicians to be committed Christians and have attended Grace Church for at least 6 months prior to joining the team.

Crèche / Sunday School

If you enjoy beinig around the next generation, there are plenty of opportunities to serve among our little ones. Crèche looks after children up to age 3. Sunday School covers children age 3 to 10 years, and our Captains group meets with teenagers after the service to chat about the sermon. If you’d like to get involved in these ministries, you will need to complete safeguarding trainings and we will arrange a DBS check. Again, for roles that include Bible teaching responsibilities, we in general require you to be a committed Christian and have attended Grace Church for at least 6 months.

Set-up or Set-down

This is a hugely valuable way in which to serve the church! As we are renting all of our spaces, we need to set up and clear away a certain amount of things at each of our services. If you don’t mind coming a bit early or staying back to clear up, we’d love to have you!

Refreshments

This involves coming a bit early to set up the refreshment area, make tea & coffee, and then serve refreshments after the service, as well as clear up. It’s a great way to get to know loads of people!

Baking / Cakes

If you enjoy baking, you’ll quickly be very popular at Grace Church 🙂 Being able to enjoy a little sweet treat after the service is a great blessing for our congregations. Depending on the service, we’d ask you to provide about 40 to 50 small portions, and depending on the service you’d be serving every 6 to 12 weeks.

Welcome

If you like looking out for those who are new and making them feel at home, please join the Welcome Team. These teams serve more frequently, so they can more easily get to know those who are new. As part of the welcome team, we ask you to arrive 30 minutes before the service starts and help with stewarding and orienting our visitors, as well as looking out for newcomers during the refreshment time after the service.

Sermon Upload, Video editing & other Tech and Design support

If you have some time available between Sunday afternoon and Monday evening, you can join the sermon upload team. It involves processing Sundays sermon and loading it to our website. We are also looking for people who enjoy video editing, can design flyers, have gifts in social media etc.
